About Kent
Kent began riding at the age of eight in a stable in downtown Chicago. Now established as one of the rising show jumping stars in the United States, Kent’s success began as a determined young rider winning the National Pony Club Championship in 1992. His passion quickly progressed into a successful equitation career winning the Eisers/Pessoa National Equitation Medal in 1998 and the Washington International Equitation Medal in 1999. Both of the wins came on borrowed horses.
Kent’s natural skill in the show jumping arena became obvious, with numerous wins as a junior including the Washington International Junior Jumper Championship and a Gold Medal at the North American Young Riders Championship, the equestrian world’s version of the Junior Olympics.
Kent’s professional career began in 1999, when he accepted a job with Tim Grubb, the four-time British Olympian. In January 2001, he was offered a position at the Fairfield County Hunt Club, working along side two-time American Olympian, Leslie Burr Howard. Later that year, Kent received the Maxine Beard award, given annually to the individual showing the most potential to represent the United States in international competition. In 2002, Kent began his own business, Kent Farrington LLC.
Kent Farrington LLC
Kent Farrington LLC is based in Greenwich, Connecticut with an additional location in Wellington, Florida. These stables are home to prospective young jumpers, as well as Grand Prix horse, Up Chiqui. In addition to competing, Kent also trains amateur riders and helps young competitors achieve their maximum potential in the show ring.
